The Scientific Center of Kuwait

One of the most famous centers in the country isThe Scientific Center of Kuwait (TSCK), enriched with educational facilities and cultural achievements. It claims to have the biggest and most striking aquarium in the entire Middle East. Aside from the aquarium, the Scientific Center also features the Dhow Harbour where the last surviving dhow, Fateh al-Khair, is moored.Another main attraction of the TSCK is the Discovery Place. Aside from the 50 collaborative exhibits found in the Discovery Place, another attraction in the area is the so-called “Starship.” This attraction has a daily laser planetarium event giving visitors the opportunity to see how the stars look up close. The Aquarium is another attraction in The Scientific Center of Kuwait. It is an entertaining journey into the aquarium with three sections that provide specimens of animal, plant, and marine life of that particular environment. The first section is the Desert where anyone can witness the biological diversity of the desert animals being portrayed with an expansive selection of local birds, reptiles, and mammals. The second section is the Coastal Edge. In this section, visitors are able to see animals that either live near mangroves or rivers, which is ideal for ecological diversity. Different types of birds, pythons, otters, and penguins can be found in this section. The last section is the Sea Zone where it offers visitors an exceptional opportunity to transport themselves to the depths of the sea.

Kuwait Towers

Kuwait Towers is a famous tourist attraction that has 3 slender towers symbolizing Kuwait’s economic renaissance. Inaugurated in 1979, this touristic landmark is rated as an iconic building of modern Kuwait. It is situated near the seashore of the Arabian Gulf Street in Sharq district. Equipped with the state-of-the-art training solutions, the reception halls can host seminars, formal events, and corporate meetings. It also holds the annual Chocolate Festival and Ice Cream Festival as well as the Popular Kuwaiti Meals Festival. Restaurants are also available in and near the Kuwait Towers. Tareq Rajab Museum

The Tareq Rajab Museum is a beautiful ethnographic museum located in the basement of a large villa. It is one of the famous museums that should not be missed. It offers several collections for you to see such as the:

    • Costumes Worn by Princesses and by Goatherds
    • Humble Prayer Cap to the Mongol helmet

According to the Tareq Rajab Museum Kuwait, the museum opened its Dar El Cid Exhibition Halls in 2001, which is close to the Museums main building. Its aim was to promote art and culture by way of lectures and exhibitions. The galleries have been a huge success over the past few years and have not only housed additional material that was unable to be displayed in the main Museum such as the Indian Miniatures, David Roberts Lithographs of Egypt, Nubia and the Holy Land, but also cultural Exhibitions such as The Carved Wooden Doors of Kuwait, the Gulf, and Yemen, and Glimpses of the Marsh Arabs, and many other visiting exhibitions from outside.

Kuwait Zoo

Kuwait also has a zoo located in Omariya on the Airport Road. In the Kuwait Zoo, you will see several types of animals such as wild turtles and amphibians, giraffe, birds, raccoon, leopard, lynx, tiger, lion, and African elephants. According to Rais Aqua Culture, the Kuwait Zoo is a landmark of Kuwait’s tourist, recreational, cultural, and environmental landmarks. It contains 1606 animals and rare birds divided into five units each containing at least twelve species. The total species are 188 and they have been adapted to the environment provided in cages.

The zoo is open to visitors on holidays as announced through the media. Visiting hours during the month of Ramadan will be from mid-day until half an hour before sunset.


Khiran Resort

Located in Khiran District near the borders of Saudi Arabia about 110Kms away from Kuwait City, Khiran Resort has beautifully landscapes, a clean and well-maintained beach area, wide roads, and ample parking space. Kuwait Airport Arrival Info

Kuwait International Airport comprises 2 terminals: Terminal 1 and Sheikh Saad Terminal. Terminal 1 handles a the large majority of the flights arriving to Kuwait International airport. The arrival area is on the first level while the departure area is on the second level.

As for the Sheikh Saad Terminal, it is a small passenger terminal which handles fewer flights when compared to Terminal 1. Regular scheduled flights are normally supported by this terminal. In 2020, a third passenger terminal, Terminal 2, is set to open.

Transport Services

Bus – Although there are transport buses lines (13, 99, and 501) available in the airport, you can opt for Kuwait’s CityBus Express lines for more convenience. Bus service is operational from 4:30AM – 11:45PM.

Guidelines and Tips

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation provides for several guidelines and tips including the following:

    • Do not accept anything from people you do not know for your own safety and security.
    • Do not leave luggage unattended in any part of the airport.
    • When experiencing a suspicious activity please contact airport authority or the security staff at the airport immediately.
    • Smoking is not allowed at the airport except in the designated areas.
    • Check the validity of your travel documents.
    • Ensure that you obtain all the mandatory documents needed to enter the country you plan to visit including a valid visa, medical check, etc.
    • Deal only with approved travel agents authorized by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the State of Kuwait.
    • Do not make more than one booking for the same flight/date to avoid cancellation of both bookings.
    • Ensure that air ticket details and hotel booking are correct as per your request. (Air ticket reservations include 13 digits, passenger name as written in his/her passport, travel date, departure time, air carrier, flight number and route.)
    • Ensure that the passenger name printed on the ticket is identical to the passenger name that is written in the passport.
    • Keep all documents pertinent to your travel including receipt, fare conditions, contract, air ticket, and hotel booking to reserve your rights.
    • Provide your airline or travel agent with your phone number and a valid email to enable them to communicate with you regarding flight information or any unexpected changes.
    • In case of reaching your final destination and unable to check-in to your hotel because of booking inaccuracies, please get a stamped document from the hotel management stating the reason for the denial of admission.
    • Arrive at the airport three hours prior to flight departure time.
    • You are not allowed to have more than one piece of carry-on luggage (handbag) with 7 kg maximum weight, and total dimensions of 115 cm.
  • In case of loss of luggage, file an irregularity report before leaving the customs area at the arrival hall, and refer to the lost & found section of the airport operations department.

Complaint Against Airlines and/or Travel Agents

In case you experience any of the cases below, you can file a complaint against airlines and/or travel agents at the office of “Duty Airport Superintendent” or “Complaint Section of Directorate General of Civil Aviation.”

However, before anyone can file a complaint, he or she must secure a valid civil ID or passport, receipt or proof of payment, air ticket, boarding pass (if applicable), power of attorney (in case the applicant is not the complainant), and any other supplementary documents.
